Hi, welcome to Verlander Design. I’m Mark Verlander (there on the right), I’m 53 (time is flying!) I’m a designer, artist and musician. I live and work in Montara, California with my wife Susan, also a designer and artist, and our daughter, Lia.
I like to create design and art to help companies, causes and people. I love to explore the visual identity of companies, to make them bold and exciting. I design on the computer, take a million photos, draw, paint, build, whatever works for the project at hand.
I love the challenge of designing identities. Seeing new places and things, meeting new people, learning about the way things work. I like to work with other agencies and studios on a freelance project basis, it’s diverse and interesting, and helps them too I hope.
I’ve had Verlander Design since 1991, in Los Angeles, New York City, and now in San Francisco. I’ve always worked alone, which is not always easy, but I enjoy the time with my family. I like to work, and I’m just as passionate about a project whether it's an NFL logo, a startup in Seoul, a wine bottle or a stage set for the community theater.
I like to think that I bring thoughtfulness, happiness and a bit of love to every project I work on. Art and design are personal for me. I see art around me every day, it makes me smile. When I create art, I do it to help people and to make them smile.
My creative message to students is ‘art is in you’, use your style, voice, make design, art, music, build, draw, look, see, live, love!
